About Little Libraries

ABOUT LITTLE LIBRARIES:

What Little Libraries Is:

Little Libraries is a community of people dedicated to the mission of comforting and inspiring children through the love of books, reading and libraries. Each of us carries out this mission in our own way whether it’s reading with our own children or grandchildren, providing books to children, or volunteering as a reader in our community.

This website and associated social media platforms are a place where we can share ideas and encourage each other to do our own personal best in the pursuit of this mission.

Everything written on this site is in my own words (no AI is used other than to correct spelling and occasionally grammar), and my own thoughts and opinions. I do not claim to be an expert or give expert advice.

Any child’s name used on this site has been changed to protect their privacy. I like to use an individual’s name sometimes to emphasize the fact that these are real people whom I’m talking about. Also, sometimes more than one story will involve the same child, so using their name may help the reader to appreciate those connections.

What Little Libraries Is Not:

  • Religious (people of all religions are welcome here, but religious views are not)

  • Political (see Religious)

  • Anything Untrue or Unkind (be nice, people)

Please keep all religion, politics, or unkind ideas out of any comments or discussions regarding this project. All comments are reviewed to ensure compliance with this standard. Thank You!

ABOUT MAUREEN:

I have always been passionate about children and books. Children’s books in particular have always fascinated me. I love the simplicity of the stories, lovable characters, and magnificent art work. I collected children’s books, gave them as gifts, and donated them to worthy causes. When my own children were little, read time was always my favorite time.

In college I took an aptitude test. It recommended that I pursue a career in computers or as a librarian. I chose a career in computers and have loved it. But I always dreamt about what it would be like to be a children’s librarian. My work as a volunteer reader and on this Little Libraries project allows me to combine these passions and I have never been happier!
