Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever
As I mentioned in my blog post titled How One Book Saved My Life, this little library website would not exist if not for my favorite (and only) childhood book Richard Scarry’s Best Storybook Ever. This book is an absolute gem and a classic. I loved this book and read it everyday, beginning my day with “good morning!” on the inside cover and ending it with “good night! sleep tight! on the back cover.
This is a perfect book to have in your own library to read with your little ones, or to give a 4 or 5 year old to have at their bedside. If gifting this book, be sure to read some of it with them so they won’t be intimidated by its size. Inside the book are lots of charming stories and fun ways to learn your ABCs, numbers, colors etc.
This would probably not be the best book to choose when volunteer reading because of its size although I have read some of the stories with the kids about specific topics they are learning in school, in particular “Colors” (page 155), “I am a Bunny” (about seasons, page 29) and What Animals Do (page 85).
Recommended for ages 2 to 5 years. Personally, I continued to read this book until I was 7 or 8 years old because I loved the book so much.
