Amazing Airplanes

When I am volunteer reading, I will often ask the student what topics they are interested in. What I’m trying to convey is that there are all kinds of books on many different topics, and if a person wants to learn more about a topic, there is likely a book about it. So when a student mentioned ‘airplanes’, I went in search of a good book about airplanes.

The book does a great job of explaining the basics of airplanes and taking a trip. It covers the process, the people, and some terminology. The writing is excellent… the words flow and they rhyme which makes it fun to read and to hear. The illustrations are colorful and happy.

This particular book is best for very young readers under the age of four. Any older than that and this book might seem too babyish for them. I think this book would also be great for a young person about to go on a plane trip for the first time. I think it would help them know what to expect and be less anxious about it.

This book is part of a series of books called “Amazing Machines” - all by the same authors. Other books in the series include books about Cars, Trains, Robots etc. I haven’t read them yet, but I bet they would be great for the same reasons.
