This book is a huge hit with my Pre-K readers. It’s a “lift-the-flap” book which engages the body as well as the mind. This assists learning and makes the book extra fun. There is a wonderful cadence to the book which adds to the enjoyment. The topic is animals which all students seem to enjoy. When the reader opens the flap they ‘get to’ identify the animal beneath. This helps young students learn the names of things and also gives them a sense of mastery when they know the names of all the animals.
This book would make an excellent gift. The flaps are a little tricky to open the first time especially for youngsters still learning their dexterity skills, so I recommend you be available to help open the flaps the first time. I did have one student who accidentally ripped one of the flaps by mistake but a piece of scotch tape fixed it right up and it hasn’t ripped since.
I recommend this book for children 3 - 5 years old.
