I loved this book from the moment I picked it up, and not just because I’m a kitty mom. There’s something about the most beloved children’s books… they are simple yet profound at the same time. This story about a kitten who thinks the full moon is a big bowl of milk and sets about trying to taste it, is very simple, but also wonderfully entertaining and relatable. The best things in life do tend to be simple, don’t they? The illustrations are also very simple. In fact, they’re all in black and white. But no beauty is lost in the shades of grey. The kitten and other critters are adorable. The kitten’s expressions tell the whole story.

I read this book last week with my 3 and 4 year old students and they all loved it. It also worked very well as an “imagination book” (aka picture walk). One of my students picked it up and started telling me the story.

Highly recommended for children up to 5 years old.
