Rhyming Dust Bunnies

I am a huge fan of Jan Thomas’ books as I wrote about in The Magic of Funny.
Rhyming Dust Bunnies was the first book of hers that I became aware of. A retired teacher friend of mine recommended it because it’s a great book to learn about rhymes. This is true, it is a great book to learn about rhymes! For many of my Pre-K students, this book was their first introduction to the concept.
And what a fun way to learn! I love this book not only for learning about rhymes, but also for the bright colors, lovable characters and witty writing. But mostly I love this book because its funny! It’s not easy to write humor that four year olds can ‘get’ but also that a grown up will find funny. Jan Thomas does this masterfully in her books.
My Pre-K students love this book the most out of all her books… they always ask for this one first (and then we go on to read them all). For some students, it’s the book and the genre that’s interesting enough to want to read at all. If you’re having trouble finding books that your little one finds interesting, I highly recommend trying this one.
