Thank You, Earth: A Love Letter to Our Planet
Author and Illustrator: April Pulley Sayre
Published: 2018
I love the topic of this book which is basically gratitude for all that the Earth provides us. The book reminds us how much diversity there is in the world. Diversity of plants, animals and landscapes. The book also draws you in by the small wonderous details and differences in the natural world like colors, shapes, patterns and seasons. The book is full of stunning photography which bring all the ideas to life and will interest a person of any age.
When I read this book, it certainly made me appreciate the Earth with fresh eyes. It made me want to go outside and notice the small details for myself. My favorite page of the book is “(Thank you) For sky room for birds.” That line just made me happy.
The book is recommended for ages 4 to 8 years although I think older kids may enjoy it too. At the back of the book are more details about each the photos and suggestions for how people of any age can get involved in the protection and conservation of our planet.
If you love this book, check out April Pulley’s Sayre’s many other books about various natural history topics.
