The Very Impatient Caterpillar

I’m a huge fan of Ross Burach’s Butterfly series of books. They are great stories masterfully written, beautifully illustrated, and most importantly, in my opinion, very funny! Kid’s love these books. I recommend that you read them in order if you can because the main character’s personality and life history is built upon with each book in the series.
The Very Impatient Caterpillar is the first in this series and it’s a gem. The main character’s personality is lovable and hysterical. He is very impatient and a bit of a know-it-all… character traits that many of us can relate to I imagine. I love the illustrations in this book - the artwork is so colorful and bold it practically jumps off the page. But the true magic of this book (and the others in the series) is that it is extremely funny - and we know how I feel about the magic of funny!
I do recommend that you practice reading this book out loud to yourself a few times before reading with others because the comedy does depend somewhat on timing and delivery in this book. I learned that thru experience… the more practice I’ve had reading this book, the better it’s been received by the kids. Do not let this turn you off though because this book well delivered can be a huge hit. There are some kids (mostly boys, curiously) that only want to read these books, so I must bring them with me every time!
Recommended for ages 3 to 6 years but I imagine older kids will enjoy this book too.
